Take The Chances,
Before It’s To Late.
I believe you should take as many
chances as you can, while you still have them. When growing up you are given
millions of chances to try new things, but once you reach a certain age in life
some opportunities are taken away. When you're a kid you should reach out to
anything that catches your attention. Do soccer. Do volleyball or even
baseball. Take chances. Spread your wings and explore the world open heartedly.
If I knew back then that some once in a lifetime opportunities were going to
close once I reached a certain age, I would’ve been more open to trying new
things.
At the age 15 ½ at the moment, I
regret not taking as many chances as I had as a kid. I didn't think about not
having the opportunities of living it up as a kid, and being stress free about everything.
Not worrying about picking out your outfits, transportation, and also about not
knowing what time your game is, and so many stressful things I do now. All of
these things were done for me by my parents or grandparents. When you’re a kid you
don't need to worry about not knowing what to do at a sport. You were stress
free of messing up at practice and games. With this in mind, as a kid you could
play any sport you desired. I only noticed recently that some opportunities to
do some things were closing right before my eyes.
When I was younger my mom would
encourage me to play soccer. When I tried playing soccer for one season, I
found out something new. I learned I’m really junk at it. I would have never
known that if I never tried, but at the same time I can look back and say that
I took the chance of trying a new sport. When I first started I was a little
scared to play soccer because that was the first sport I have ever done in my
life, but in the end I got to experience being on a little league soccer team. During
that time, my family wanted me to dance hula because my cousin was a very good
dancer. I refused to go take lessons for some unknown reason. From this day on
I regret not taking lessons because I watch how well and successful my cousin
does as being such a beautiful hula dancer she is today. I believe that I will
always regret all of the mini risk that I didn’t take as a kid.
Being a teenager takes some opportunities
away, but some are still out there. With me believing that I should take
chances while I still have them, gave me many good opportunities doing good in
life. When I was a Freshman in High school there was a pre-training for the
volleyball season. At first I was scared of all the upper classmen being mean
and snobby. I was also afraid of the coaches being harsh, strict, and not fun
at all. The one thing I was most fearful of was that I was going to be way more
inexperienced than the rest of the girls. But guess what. I took that chance of
trying out for the high school team, and guess what. I made the team, and was
so thrilled to make the JV volleyball team. With me taking the chance while I
had it, and making the team just proves that you should strive to take all of
the opportunities that are open to you at the moment, you should go for it. From
me trying out for the MoHs jv volleyball team it gave me the strength to try
out again sophomore year and I made it the Blue Varsity team. I made new
friends, learned some new skills for volleyball, and got a lot closer with the
upper classmen. Take the chances while they’re out there. No matter what the
outcome is you can say you tried. Sometimes you may not like it or maybe you
will, but you never know until you take the chance. It never hurts to try.
When the doors of opportunity are
open to you, go for it. You never know when you’ll ever get the same chance of
doing something, so if you’re interested at doing it, you should just try it. I
learned my lesson the hard way, but I’m still learning. I am opening up little
by little of my safety zone. I’m trying new things that I sometimes don’t want
to do. With knowing that sometime later in life I might not get the same
chances that I have at the time makes me want to try do new things no matter
how bad sometimes I really don't want to. Some things you should do just so you
can look back in life and have no regrets. One of the worst feelings you could
have when your older is having regrets in life because you know that you had
the chance, but missed it. From here on out I’m always open minded on new
opportunities that come my way no matter what it is. It could be sports,
academics, or even just an outing. I’m going to try to always be open to new
things that pop up in life and strive to do my best in it. Take chances, before
its to late.
