Da Tourist Essay Rough Draft

Although its good that Hawaii is getting more money from the tourist, it’s bad for the environment negative long-term effect on the environment). One reason why tourism is bad for Hawaii is because of the effect on our land. Another reason why tourism isn’t good for Hawaii is because of the negative effect on our oceans. The last reason why tourism has an adverse effect on Hawaii is because of our animals. The people of Hawaii need to consider the positive and negative effects of tourism.
One reason why tourism is bad for Hawaii is because of the effect on our land. Hawaii was once a beautiful tropical island, but then it got over built by endless skyscrapers, six-lane highways that cater 300,000 cars, and jetliners that land every three minutes. The over building of the Hawaiian Islands started in the early 1960’s. Over 3 billion dollars was spent to build new hotels in only eighteen years. Hawaii’s main industry switched from agriculture to tourism. With all the tourism in Hawaii, it came with other buildings such as shopping malls, and other tourist stores. With all the shopping malls and building being built new infrastructure had to be built to sustain the growing tourism industry. The new infrastructure took away lots of native habitats and continued growth contributes to more pollution and loss of habitats in the islands.
Another reason why tourism isn’t good for Hawaii is because of the negative effect on our oceans. From all the tourist coming to Hawaii and wanting to visit our beautiful oceans there is still a negative effect. Many of Hawaii’s gorgeous coral reefs, like many around the world are being destroyed by human activities. Some of the activities that are hurting our beautiful coral reefs are boats anchors and swimmers that crash into them, and sometimes that can’t be repaired. Some older hotels still send sewage out to sea, where it kills coral reefs and sea life. Another thing that also hurts our coral reefs is the over development of the land, that then creates runoff from streams and storm drains, that coat the coral in mud and kills it.
The last reason why tourism has an adverse effect on Hawaii is because of our animals. There are tourist activities such as fishing on the boat or even on shore. But many of us don’t know that we are overfishing and 3 out of 4 species of fish in Hawaii’s coral reefs are in the danger of extinction. Because of all the tourism and over development up to 60% of the indigenous animal and plant life of Hawaii are considered endangered species. For example the Green Sea Turtle was declared as an endangered species and has recently made a little come back, but is still affected by the pollution and debris caused by the over population, lack of public facilities, and infrastructure in the waters of Hawaii.
In conclusion, tourism has positive and negative effects on Hawaii’s environment. The first reason why tourism is bad for Hawaii because of the effects on our land. The second reason tourism is bad for Hawaii is because of the negative effects on the ocean. Finally, the last reason why tourism is bad for Hawaii is because of the adverse on Hawaii’s animals. All in all, I feel that we should be cautious of our tourism industry.

revised querencia

Its 8 o’clock in the morning, and see the bright beautiful sun shining through my windows. I smell the spam getting fried, and the hear coolers getting packed. I jump out of bed from all of the excitement that’s waiting ahead. Then I go into the kitchen to greet the family “good morning” and ask “do you need help with anything” their reply is “of course!”.  So now I am off to work to get the day started.
Next, I see my aunty going through our long checklist of things to pack. I hear her saying the list to herself “spam musubi’s …. check, chocolate cupcakes … check, plates, napkins, forks… check”. I am so excited to start a long fun filled day ahead of me. We finally get ready by loading all of the coolers, boogie boards, sand boards, chairs, tents, volleyball and hibachi. We pack 2 cars full of beach supplies to keep us busy the whole day. I am impatiently waiting in my uncle’s truck to reach Mokulei’a beach. We drive for 45 minutes listening to the radio and talking story with my uncle Jon.
I finally see the beach after my long ride and now I’m super excited to start my day off with my family. Everyone’s gets out of their cars and starts unpacking. One by one I then see my auntie’s, uncle’s, and cousins arriving to join us on this beautiful day at the beach. “Thank goodness our beach isn’t that crowded today,” I tell my mom. Next I grab one side of the tent and help my uncle set it up. As a result we have instant shade, our 20x20 tent and a and a 10x10 pop up tent on the side of that, on the inside we have a table full of ono BBQ meat, dessert, chili, and a lot more. We also have at least a dozen chairs scattered under our tent, with mats on the sand.
I see the sun shining bright and saw I looked a little white so I grab my towel and run to lay in the sun to get a nice tan. I look behind me and see my cousins grab their towels and lay them out next to me. After about 10 minutes go by I decide to jump into the ocean to cool off, while running to the water I can see my dog Marley running after me. As I jump into the ocean I think to my self “OMG this feels so good right now!”  It’s lunch time and  the whole family is here to join us for a nice day at the beach, and there are at least 20 of us.

After lunch, my cousins and I grab our buckets to make our ramp for sand boarding into the water. We finally finish after 15 minutes of busting our butts off. I yell out “It’s time to sand board!”. I see my cousins grab their board and head down the hill riding with two feet on the board going down a steep ramp of sand. I think to myself “what am I doing still standing here?” so I grab my board and join the fun. I go down the hill so many times I lose track after the fifth time.  I am now tired of falling into the hard sand and salty ocean, so I slowly walk back up the hill of sand and reach for my phone in my bag. I look at my phone to see what time it is and “it’s 7 o’clock already!” My mom says “Brookie go call your cousins we’re about to leave soon”. We eat again one last time before cleaning up.  So my cousins and I gather our belongings and help clean up. Mokulei’a is where I can be myself and at the same time have a bunch of fun with my family.

Brookie's Chocolate Chip Cupcake Essay

Brookie’s Chocolate Chip Cupcake Essay

As soon as I saw the Devil’s Food Cake mix over the oven I knew I was in for a treat! Next, I saw the delicious chocolate chips and couldn’t stay still. I knew I had to wait till my mom cooked it but I was so anxious to stuff my face with delicious sweetness.
Ever since I was a little girl my mom and my nana would make these delicious moist Chocolate Chip Cupcakes for all occasions. My family and I all have a sweet tooth. Whenever we get hungry for something ono and sweet we always have the ingredients ready to be put together. This dessert has been with us through out three generations and has some really fun memories.
One of the unforgettable memories was when I was a little girl my family and I would go beach every weekend and my nana would make us our moist, chocolaty, and heavenly Chocolate Chip Cupcakes. We would all fight for the last cupcake as if it were a contest. Another memory I have about our family recipe we all enjoy is every holiday such as Easter, Christmas, Halloween, etc. we would always put a peep that represented that day. When ever we have to make a lot of the peeps for a party or some type of special occasion my job is to poke the peep with a toothpick and stick it into the tasty cupcake.
“Mom what makes this cupcake so irresistible?I asked my mom …. “I think the sour cream because it makes all baked goods moist”, she replied.  From now on I am always aware of putting sour cream in what ever I bake because I really despise hard cupcakes. I asked a couple of my family members on how they like to eat their cupcakes and some of their answers were first the muffin top then the bottom, or the bottom then the top, or just the top. This recipe has been with my family for three generations, and my nana taught my mom how to make it and I am slowly learning how to make it as well.
I asked my mom “What do you look forward to when making these ono cupcakes that everyone loves?… And she replied “eating and taking the bite out of the warm, fresh baked, delicious chocolate chip cupcake. I also love decorating them to look cute and give out!”

If you ever came to one of my family get together you will see my cousins asking my mom if she made the cupcakes. Another similar story is that after I bring my cupcakes to school that one time the next day they ask if I made some more. I will never forget what this little recipe brought to the family and how many memories we had with them.
